Gio is a Colombian-Italian Miami-based alt rock singer-songwriter who specializes in ekphrastic music inspired by her favorite books and anime/manga. She’s been uploading to her YouTube channel since 2009 and since has accrued nearly 20k subscribers, released 3 studio EPs, her first full length album The Monster that Kept Me and her follow up album Leylines. In addition, she’s cultivated a small audience with her artwork under the name @viinas_art. She has been a featured performer at several conventions including OtakuFest and Anime Expo as well as local venues. Though she has built her online following by posting acoustic original songs on YouTube, her official releases feature a heavier rock sound.

Ekphrastic Music
Gio’s music is largely inspired by her favorite books, anime, and manga. Her favorite thing to do is tap into a character’s head and write music from their perspective, about their internal and external journeys. See if you can connect any of her lyrics to a story you love. In addition to music, she is also a writer and artist. Her prose and artwork can be found in plenty of fan anthologies as well as online.
